DEAR CHD aims to improve the early detection of developmental and emotional difficulties in children with heart disease. The project explores the development and emotional adjustment in children, 2-5 years old, with mild and severe Congenital Heart Disease. It considers factors that affect the development of children, such as possible organic factors arising from congenital heart disease in combination with developmental factors and the context of the children’s upbringing. The project weighs the up-to-then tool for detecting developmental difficulties in the Cypriot population and, in particular, in healthy children and children with Congenital Heart Diseases. The participating children are provided with a free evaluation. The project results contribute to the development of a new culture for preventive care in Cyprus and Greece, while at the same time have a significant research contribution to the scientific community at national and international level.
